Tragedy and Comedy

I can't remember if I blogged about this already or not. In a comedy or a comedy act, everything can be flawless. The structure, 99.9% of the jokes, the timing. But put in one bad joke, only one, and everyone will think it's the most juvenile piece of crap that ever existed. In a tragedy, there can be all kinds of structural issues, terrible melodramatic moments, overacting, but if you make the audience cry at the end, everyone raves that it's a brilliant work of art.
